After installation, when the panels had an issue communicating with the App, DeMarcus came out and fixed the issue promptly and with care and concern. As part of the energy efficiency assessment, Flequer discovered that a prior contractor had improperly vented a shower exhaust; the Sustainergy team properly vented it. Flequer also recommended installation of an energy efficient water heater. I appreciated this recommendation not only for the cost savings but also because water heaters are not something that Sustainergy sells or installs (this indicated to me that their assessment was genuine and goes well beyond only recommending services they provide). Following one small and one very large and complicated extraction and re-insulation job for us, we were very satisfied with the final outcome of Sustainergy’s work. Both jobs had the added complication of remediation work being done between the extraction and installation of new insulation.across a large attic. Work on our attic needed to be done in stages to best allow efficient work Because the home had experienced several additions to the home prior to our ownership, the Sustainergy team also dealt with the existence of former roof lines inside our attic, forming complicated obstacles in our attic. The Sustainergy teams also encountered layers of insulation, some of it matted and hard from prior moisture in the attic, which slowed the job. The complications involved led to some early holes with communication with the management end of Sustainergy’s team. There is also some need for more advanced project management with complicated attic extraction/installation jobs, which is the only reason for four stars instead of five. With our complicated extraction/installation job, it was helpful for the home owner to be engaged in the process and tracking details. But, the team adjusted their strategy along the way and the end result is very good. As their clients, we are impressed with their employee-owned corporate structure and the depth of knowledge in several areas with their teams. We also appreciate that the company was willing to work with a type of insulation they had not previously used, Havelock pure wool bat insulation. Most of the Sustainergy crew is familiar with working with containment in mold remediation situations. We were especially grateful for Stacy’s dedication to working extra hours to get a crucial work phase completed, with Lewis’ building sciences knowledge, with the company’s overall “can-do” attitude, and with Brittany’s impressive professionalism, communication skills and attention to detail. Our home has one remaining remodeling effort, which will involve re-insulation work with one last area of our home, and we will be using Sustainergy for that area, as well. I have an older ~1910 home, and we have had some serious challenges keeping the 3rd floor properly heated and cooled. Our third floor had been finished but not insulated, resulting in some very steep energy bills in the summer and winter, not to mention many sweaty/frigid days. Lewis was very patient with me as I explored my options, made some very helpful recommendations for other projects around the house, and provided the most reasonable price. He provided plenty of details about what his team would do without being overwhelming, and answered all questions I had. The team was in and out in less than a day, with very minimal modifications made (just a few access holes cut out), and were very professional in their work. I was directed to this company from Duke Energy. I had been needing to get insulation added into my attic for a while now. My house was built in the 1950's and the insulation in the attic must have been the original. It was barely there. This company came in and did an assessment that was both thorough and quick. I was walked through everything that was recommended and was sent a quote via e-mail. The company does give you a discount if you sign the estimate within 10 days. I knew this project was desperately needed, so I signed immediately since the price was great. I have had several companies come into my home a few years ago with quotes that were significantly higher than what I was quoted by Sustainergy in October 2021. On install day, there were 2 workers who came in and worked very quickly to get the job done. They asked permission before completing a lot of the tasks (like opening a window, etc.). Very appreciative of the service! Both worked at my two separate attic entrances quite effectively and about half way through mentioned that my bathroom ventilation was damaged. They were able to call in and add it to my invoice and repair it right away! Loved that! They had protective barriers laid out to protect the floors. However, there was a bit of a dust layer left over on all my furniture after they left (to be expected), but it cleaned up easily with the vacuum and soap/water. As of December 13, 2021, over a month since the install - my house has definitely retained the heat and my furnace does not run nearly as much! My November bill was $60 less than it was last year! Install or Upgrade Insulation Our home is 124 years old. Our plaster is directly on the brick, except for the 3rd floor where we have knee walls that are under the roof lines. We needed to insulate so that we could add guest space because the temperature difference was unbearable, especially in the winter. As we went up the stairs, we could feel a cold layer. I got 3 different estimates and they were all about the same. Our Sustainergy assessor, Lewis, was very professional and personable. I decided to use Sustainergy because they are worker owned and Lewis was very helpful when I called to ask lots of follow-up questions. Lewis warned me that the insulation would only make my space LESS cold, but itâ s done so much more!! Our 3rd floor is now LIVEABLE!! Itâ s no longer the coldest place in the house and areas I couldnâ t bear to be, I am now sitting in and using!! There is no distinguishable temperature change as we go up the stairs. Insulate an Attic This business cares. My wife and I hired Sustainergy to update the attic insulation and bathroom ventilation in our 1960's home. We were very impressed by the professionalism and energy that Lindsey showed at the initial site visit, as well as the timeliness, optimism, and tidiness of the crew that performed the work. As part of an overall process to improve energy efficiency and reduce our carbon footprint, we had Sustainergy perform an energy audit on our home. All went better than expected, until the inspection uncovered a significant mold problem in our attic. This was independently verified by a trusted home inspector. After obtaining several quotes for remediation and for air-sealing/insulation, we selected Sustainergy to do both. Their price was in line with other quotes, and I already had an appreciation for their work. The schedule was complicated by additional HVAC work being done at the time, part of which was in the same attic. Sustainergy arrived each day as planned and worked very nicely to dovetail with the other work. Remediation was careful and thorough, air-sealing was good, and final insulation was amazingly fast and buried all HVAC ducts as requested. An attic isn't something I would normally describe as "beautiful", but in this case that is exactly how I felt about the end product. Throughout the process, the entire crew were courteous and professional. Flequer and Lindsey answered numerous questions and went out of their way to ensure we were all on the same page and that our needs were being met. In fact, I can honestly say I have never worked with a contractor as responsive and customer-focused as Sustainergy, special credit to Flequer. We worked with Flequer -- he was great -- spent over an hour at our home walking through with us, pointing out various potential energy conservation measures and their expected payback. He then worked with us to prioritize since we didn't have an unlimited budget. We ended up deciding to insulate the attic first, and prioritize other projects for future years. He also did all the paperwork for us to qualify for a $250 rebate from Duke Energy -- the check arrived a couple months later, and he did all the work! Our home is much more comfortable and the project was worth every penny. The company is worker-owned which means all their crew -- from sales to installation -- are incentivized to do the job right so they don't have to come back. Soundproof a Room or Window Needed to soundproof a shared condo wall, but after initial consultation decided to also insulate bathroom wall that was always freezing in the winter, add additional insulation to the attic, and seal duct work leaks, as well as a few air leaks in the attic and basement. The crew were wonderful. On time, fast, friendly, and very careful with our home. Above all, they were all extremely honest and never tried to sell more services than I needed. We decided to go with dense packed cellulose for soundproofing and insulation. The price was very reasonable, and everyone was very knowledgeable and patient in answering all my questions.
